Strategic and international management targets long term decisions and the sustainable development of the company. In the course of globalization, it is crucial to consider the international dimension of management. Strategic and international management skills are not only important in the management of companies that are doing business across borders, but also within single business functions when shaping competitive strategy.

Students will develop a basic understanding of useful applications of AI in the area of strategic management. They learn how companies can strategically apply AI for gaining competitive advantage in different industries. Students will also improve their project management and teamwork skills, as they are required to elaborate a complex project topic on their own. They will create basic skills of academic writing and literature search, too.

The seminar ends with a project plan, a seminar group paper, and a group presentation.

Students will gain a basic understanding of the most subject-relevant management theories and the challenges of strategic decision-making in a geopolitically turbulent environment. They are able to apply and connect their basic theoretical knowledge to real-world cases in selected settings and environments. Students improve their project management and teamwork skills when working together in teams on a selected project topic on their own. They gather basic skills in academic writing and literature research.

Advanced Seminar Marketing, Strategy, Leadership & Management: Strategy, Digitalization, and Global Context

(Seminar, 4 SWS/6 ECTS, MSc TUM MMT, MSc TUM MiM)

Description:
 

Students will develop a basic understanding of the most important international business theories and the contemporary challenges of managing across borders in a digital world, including digitalization's "dark sides". They show an understanding of its real-world application via case studies in different industries and countries. Students will have improved their project management and teamwork skills, as they are required to elaborate a complex project topic on their own. They created basic skills of academic writing and literature research. Furthermore, they strengthened their communication skills while presenting their results in front of the class.

Master Thesis Seminar

(Seminar, 2 SWS, students currently writing their Master thesis at the chair of Strategic and International Management)

Description:
 
This course covers key issues that come across when writing a scientific paper, especially a final thesis. This includes identification of research needs, planning of the research approach, elaboration as well as presentation of research results.
Students will once present the status of their Master thesis and are encouraged to provide their fellow students with feedback.

According to the intended learning outcomes of this course, the lectures cover the most important theories and methods of strategic and international management. In the course of the increasing globalization, companies of almost all industries and sizes have to include an international dimension in their strategic considerations. Strategic and international management skills are important for formulating and implementing competitive strategies. Therefore, the course puts special emphasis on strategic and international management topics.
